Hospice volunteers serve our patients and families in a variety of ways. Volunteers are valued members of our hospice team. Commitments as often as once a week to once a month depending on your availability. Do you have a special skill or interest you wish to share? Let us know.

Hospice Volunteer Opportunities
Hospice Patient Companion: Work directly with patients and their families by providing patient companionship and respite to caregivers. Assignments are typically once a week for a couple of hours depending on volunteer's schedule and availability. No prior medical knowledge required.
We Honor Veterans Volunteers: Seeking retired veterans, those currently serving in the military and/or ROTC to provide patient companionship for our veterans receiving hospice care. Volunteer role could be once a week to once a month providing friendly visits, respite for caregivers or by helping honor our veterans by assisting staff in formal acknowledgement of service ceremonies one on one or on specific holidays.
Facility Friendly Visitors: Visit our hospice patients 2-4 times a month at one of the local nursing homes or assisted living facilities served by VNA Hospice.
Hospice Massage Therapist: Volunteer time requirement is flexible. Previous training/work in massage therapy required, comfortable working around patient’s physical restrictions and understanding of contraindications.
CareCuts Hairstylist/Barber: Provide occasional in-home haircuts for our hospice clients. Need to have professional skills and own equipment.
Music: Volunteers to provide one-on-one music or once a month music activity for a local facility served by VNA Hospice.
Animal Companions: Therapy or Good Citizen dogs (as well as other well-behaved animal companions) who want to visit our hospice patients in local nursing and assisted living facilities need to let their owners know of this volunteer opportunity. Visits 2-4x per month.
Snow Angel: Support our hospice patients/families outside the home by providing necessary assistance with yard care needs: snow removal, raking, trimming and mowing. Limited requests for these volunteer services. Schedule at your convenience.
Office: General office help like filing, mailings, odd jobs and event help. Approximately 2 times per month. Schedule at your convenience.
Requirements
• No medical knowledge needed.
• Mandatory volunteer training provided.
• Application and Interview.
• KBI Background Check.
• TB test – free of charge.
• Own Transportation.
